Snow began falling early Wednesday morning. By 2pm more than 2 inches was already coating the mountaintop. Up to 6 inches is expected by the end of the day, with more snow in the forecast after the first of the year.

Baqueira Beret, Spain

In the Pyrenees powder conditions continue in the main resorts. On the French side Les Angles got the most fresh snow in the country over Christmas week with 28 inches more powder. However the avalanche risk is high here too. There's a holiday atmosphere in Spanish ski resorts where the holidays continue until January 6th. Baqueira Beret has the best snow depth with 225cm at the top of its runs. To the south Sierra Nevada now has 10 feet of snow on its upper slopes.

Arapahoe Basin, CO

Arapahoe Basin opened Montezuma Bowl on December 30. Opening for its second season, Montezuma Bowl had 15 trails for intermediate, advanced and expert skiers to enjoy today. Watch for further terrain openings in the near future.

Crystal Mountain, WA

One storm after another has pounded the Cascades. Yesterday morning was the deepest day yet, 18 inches fell overnight and the powder-hounds went crazy. Since Christmas Day a total of 88 inches of snow has fallen (that's over 7 feet in just 9 days)!

The base total at Crystal has climbed to 81 inches. The season snowfall total is 182 inches, that's over half of the annual average which is 350 inches.

Alta, UT

Alta got 17 inches of new snow in 24 hours this week, adding to their total of 228 inches so far. What a whopper.

The Canyons Snow Safety team have had their work cut out for them with all the recent snow. Here we see Paul Gaia and crew en route to avalanche control work on Murdock Peak before you even got out of bed this morning. The Canyons got 19 inches of new snow in 24 hours last week.
